WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to emerge in your mouth, if they are well-positioned and the gums around them are healthy, they are essential. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen generally. Sometimes they may grow sideway affecting your neighbouring teeth, too big to emerge or create an opening on your gums, which will allow food and bacteria to enter and could cause a serious infection.
At Smile Me Dental, Dr Claudia will evaluate the position of your wisdom teeth and predict any potential problems, when a problem is found, wisdom tooth extraction is often the best solution.
This is usually a minor surgical procedure, done in our offices, using local anaesthetic. We understand it may be a scary and unpleasant experience however, Dr Claudia who has extensive experience in Oral Surgery, will do everything to make this treatment as painless as possible.
On request, and where indicated IV Sedation is a safe and pain-free solution for particularly anxious patients, drugs are delivered into your bloodstream, these place you into a deep state of relaxation time will appear to pass very quickly, and you will not recall much of what happened. At Smile Me Dental intravenous sedation is administered by our certified Sedationist, Dr Melissa Licenblat.
It takes approximately 30 minutes for one tooth to up to 1 hour for all four wisdom teeth to be removed. There can be some discomfort after the procedure, but it is usually minimal and for a few days.
